Rock the Bells 2009 @ The Shoreline Amphitheater
A couple videos from this years ROCK THE BELLS @ Shoreline, ILL concert. I missed alot of the acts I wanted to see because of some drama and my phone died so I couldn't get videos of the later acts, but the beginning of the day was still real sick. I was pretty excited/bouncy/perked so the camera is pretty shaky. My bad. Check the footage.

RO KNEW ANNOUNCES "HIGH TIMES IN LOW PLACES" ALBUM TRACKLISTING, RELEASE DATE, AND FIRST SINGLE
Oakland, CA - WeedTracker Music hip-hop artist Ro Knew has announced the release of his LP, "High Times in Low Places." The CD will officially hit retail outlets on October 1st but the digital download will be released exclusively through WeedTrackerMusic.com on August 28th!
This album marks the first official solo release for Ro Knew since 2003's "The Uncarved Block," a mostly self-produced project which enjoyed some modest college airplay but never spread very far outside Ro's native state of Illinois.
After releasing a series of short-run, low-budget mixtapes, Ro Knew and longtime collaborator Mic Logik joined forces as Division One to put out "The Drawing Board" in 2007, which established the duo as a legitimate force in independent hip-hop circles.
In 2008, Ro moved from Chicago to Oakland, CA, where he linked up with WeedTracker Music and formed the group West X Midwest with emcee/producer Influence. WeedTracker is proud to release Ro Knew's "High Times in Low Places," which features production and guest appearances from some of Chicago and the Bay's finest.
The first single is "High Times" backed with "Low Places (feat. Wes Restless)" and both tracks can be downloaded for free here!

The Weekly Ear Test Volume #1
What's up ya'll.
Thizzler's come a long way since it's first steps. It went from a little site no one knew about where I'd post what I liked into a somewhat? reputable site full of new and upcoming hip-hop. Somewhere along the line I feel like it lost that "this is what I'm feelin" element. So I'm bringin that back now with....
The Weekly Ear Test Volume #1
Every Saturday, I'm gunna post what I've been listening to throughout the week. Keep ya'll in the loop, ya know? So here you go.
Rafael Casal - As Good As Your Word
As soon as I heard that Top 100 Bay Area Slang slumper I had to check out this dude. I was not disappointed. Although it's a much different style from that song, dude is hella lyrical and REAL with almost every song on the album. He has a good balance of strong poetic tracks mixed with a couple hip-hop bangers. I'm especially feelin' The Core, Dontchawannabeastar, Hustler, July 17 and Headbanger.
La Coka Nostra - A Brand You Can Trust
I kinda slept on this one, it's true. I've had this album sittin on my computer for a week or two now and haven't listened to it at all. I guess I kinda thought it would be alot like the other stuff they've put out. It's not. This shit goes 10x harder. The style is essentially the same, but much more polished. The beats on most tracks are crazy, like Once Upon A Time and Choose Your Side. The whole crew spits hard on every track and they have guest spots from stars like Snoop Dogg, Immortal Technique, Bun B, B-Real, and more. I recommend this one for sure if you like hardcore hip-hop. It kinda reminds me stylistically of...
Slaughterhouse - Slaughterhouse
Ok, so I just started listening to this last night. Nice flows, nice beats, and nice chemistry between em. The whole album comes thru sick with a kind of crazy, frantic energy. I've posted The One and Cuckoo here before, Microphone (produced by Alchemist) is also sick. With Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9" you can't go wrong lyrically, and the beats mostly match their savagery.
So there you have it. Volume #1 of the Weekly Ear Test. Stay tuned for next week's installment.
